Animal Welfare Foundation

Veterinary expertise underpins our work here at the Animal Welfare Foundation, and so it’s crucial that our board of trustees reflects the diversity of the veterinary landscape. As such we are delighted to welcome two new trustees onto our board who bring with them a wealth of experience in mixed veterinary practice, clinical research and governance in the not for profit sector.

Fiona Fell, a former mixed practice vet, has advised on a range of boards in the last twenty years. This includes the Moredun Foundation, which supports livestock health and welfare through research and education; the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and the National Trust Regional Advisory Board for the North. Fiona is currently Deputy Chairman of the Centre of Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL), a business led collaboration of 12 UK universities and institutes.

We also welcome Kathryn Ellis, a leading clinician in Farm Animal clinical sciences at the University of Glasgow. Alongside teaching veterinary students Kathryn has an active research interest in various aspects of livestock health and welfare, including the welfare of cows and calves at calving and gastrointestinal parasite control.
