One Welfare Conference

The CVE is honoured to be accepting the baton from Canada to host the second international One Welfare Conference in Sydney, Australia.

‘One Welfare describes the interrelationships between animal welfare, human well-being and the physical and social environment’ (Garcia Pinillos, 2018).

The first International One Welfare Conference, held in Winnipeg Manitoba in 2016, saw a gathering of national and international experts and decision makers in the fields of human and animal health and welfare to discuss the science, best practices, models and policies to manage complex issues. The 2019 conference will extend the scope of the content covered as per the 2017 World Organisation for Animal Health’s (OIE) Global Animal Welfare Strategy which aims for:

a world where the welfare of animals is respected, promoted and advanced, in ways that compliment the pursuit of animal health, human well-being, socio-economic development and environmental sustainability’.

Join us and learn from acclaimed International Keynote Speakers:

Professor David Fraser from the University of British Columbia, renowned worldwide as ‘a pioneer in the field of animal welfare science’ for which he was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 2005.

Dr Rebecca Garcia Pinillos also has an impressive pioneering pedigree in the field of animal welfare, being the founder of the non-profit social enterprise One Welfare Community Interest Company.
